113 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from various orthopaedic conditions during t14e 11 months period from June 1973 to April 1974
Antibiotics used for sensitivity test are Penicillin G. Ampicillin, Cloxacillin, Cephalexin, Chloramphenicol, Erythromycin, Oxytetracycline, Streptomycin, Kanamycin and Gentamicin.
Sensitivity was determined by the paper disk procedure. The susceptibility of the organisms are shown irk Table I and II. Through: this study it was found that there are many s*_rains of staphylococcus aureus resisting-to 56 antibiotics, simultaneously. In this study, Cloxacillin, Cephalexin and Gentamicin had most outstanding bacteriocidal action. Kanamycin and Erythromycin also had good activity.
